e.l.f. Flawless Finish Foundation Review
e.l.f. Flawless Finish Foundation is a product I came across fairly early on in my cruelty free mission. I was looking for alternatives to previous foundations I had used, and to be honest I had never necessarily settled on one “holy grail” foundation – until this. I was looking for cruelty free brands that weren’t going to cost me £30 for a foundation (even though I had paid more than that in my search for cruelty free foundations) that I would be using every day. I discovered e.l.f. cosmetics and this was the first product that I tried from them. I absolutely love it. I don’t tend to wear foundation every day at the moment, but I have done previously and also do on occasions or weekends etc and this is foundation I turn to.
The lightweight and oil-free formula blends in naturally for a beautiful semi-matte finish. The liquid foundation restores uneven skin textures and tones, for visibly brighter skin.
At £7.99 I think this foundation is ridiculously affordable, and a little goes a long way. I personally find the consistency just right, it isn’t too thick that it is hard to blend but also enough coverage that it doesn’t just disappear. Talking of the coverage I would say this is light to medium, but is definitely build-able. It looks natural on the skin, covering enough to even out skin tone but not completely hiding everything. I like to be able to see a few freckles and the odd blemish (although just minor blemishes!) and then spot correct areas with concealer. The finish, again, is beautiful. Definitely semi-matte as they claim, and as someone with combination skin I find that it can be quite difficult to find a balance. This foundation leaves enough of a glow to the skin without it looking oily or cakey. I tend to set areas that I know may get oily or fade slightly with a powder to make it last as long as possible, but this is just my routine and I actually think it would be perfectly fine not to with normal and dryer skin types.
The shade range is pretty good too, at the moment there are 11 shades on the website. I have two shades that I alternate between or mix depending on whether I have fake tanned! I do have a fairly pale complexion, and I use Natural (previously porcelain) and Sand. There are other shades in between these but I prefer a more yellow toned foundation and these shades fit together perfectly.
The packaging for such and affordable foundation is also very surprising. The container is glass with a sleek lid, and a pump to dispense the product which helps to avoid mess. Overall the product looks clean and to be fair almost luxurious, I actually leave mine on my dressing table as I love the way they look.
Basically, I cant say enough good things about this foundation. If you are someone who prefers full coverage thicker foundations then this may not be for you, but as an every day foundation and for me even when I am doing a full makeup look it is absolutely spot on!
Have you tried this foundation? Let me know your thoughts!
