CYO Makeup Review & Swatches

CYO Makeup Review and Swatches! As a big fan of the CYO Lifeproof Foundation I decided to all in and try a full base of CYO products (after all, they were on offer!) There are quite a few products to choose from so I didn’t go completely crazy and just buy everything, but I have the products I am most likely to use on a daily basis and have put them to the test. For anyone who doesn’t know, I work outside (with animals) so this is a good test – especially with the current crazy weather! I have combination skin for reference. So, did they hold up??

CYO Lifeproof Long Lasting Foundation

RRP £7.50

“Medium coverage. 24 hour shift. Feels light. Looks smooth. Never cake-y.

• Skin looks flawless yet natural
• Lasts all day
• Skin feels moisturised
• Transfer & smudge proof
• Comfortable to wear”

Straight off the bat I can completely agree with almost all of these claims – it comes in 15 shades and describes the undertones of each shade (I have shade 103 which matches me perfectly). The coverage is as it says, medium, and this is perfect for a natural look that makes my face look more presentable. It is absolutely not cakey, and although it does wear off throughout the day it does so in a really subtle and natural way and doesn’t clog or build up in any areas. The only thing I wouldn’t agree with is transfer proof, however this is only really initially as it does settle well, but for the first 20 minutes or so if I wipe my face (I don’t know why I would do that..) it does transfer a little onto fingers, however it doesn’t smudge on my face.. Magic?

CYO Brush With Brilliance Highlighting Concealer

RRP £5.00

“Multi-tasker conceals. Highlights. Cheeks, brows, nose, Cupid’s Bow.

• Highlights & conceals
• Conceals blemishes & dark circles
• Skin looks brighter & more radiant
• Buildable & blendable
• Lasts all day”

This concealer comes in 3 shades – Fair, Medium and Dark. The only thing that could be a down side to the shades is that I have the shade fair and it isn’t really the light. That being said, I LOVE this concealer. I expected it to be shimmery for some reason (highlighting?) but it isn’t at all, and it genuinely does make me look so much more awake. It doesn’t have loads of coverage, but as with the foundation there is enough coverage to help a girl out but also still look natural. Definitely blendable, and yes it does last. Love it.

CYO It’s A Cover Up High Coverage Concealer

RRP £5.00

“High coverage. Stays put. Bye bye skin imperfections.

• Skin looks flawless
• Full coverage
• Lasts all day”

Yes I did buy 2 concealers, but as said I expected the Highlighting Concealer to be shimmery so wanted to play it safe. I’m glad I did though, as they have completely different results. This concealer also comes in 3 shades – Fair, Medium and Dark, and the Fair shade is definitely lighter. While I wouldn’t say that this is “high” coverage, it is definitely higher than medium. This has more coverage but still looks natural (it amazes me every time) and blends like a dream. I use my finger to apply this and the creamy consistency is simply lovely. Again, love this product – I may say that alot in this post!

CYO Cool As A Coconut Cooling Bronzing Stick

RRP £5.50

“Gives good glow. Glides on face & body; instant sheer bronze. Creamy, lightweight & cooling too. Coconut-y.

• Use to bronze & contour
• For faces & bodies
• Gives skin a healthy, sun kissed glow
• Blendable & buildable
• Water resistant
• Cools on application
• Coconut fragrance”

This is definitely glowy and a little goes a long way, and while there is a risk of this turning into a bronze highlighter if applied minimally this is simply stunning. I use this before any powders, and the powders seem to take away the majority of the “highlighting” effects leaving behind a subtle bronze glow. This glides on beautifully and blends like a dream.

CYO Sweep Into Shape Lip, Blush & Highlight Stick

RRP £5.50

“TWICE AS NICE.
Sculpt and define to glow like a pro with this easy to use lip, blush & highlight stick. Define, highlight and add a flush of blush to your face for a flawless glow. Enhance your best assets with this creamy, easy to blend formula. Sweep over lips for soft, smooth creamy pout that layers up to glow glow glow.

FORENSICS…
Two ways to endless looks. Creamy soft textures so easy to blend. At one end, a pigmented stick to use on lips for cream finish or blend onto cheeks for that flawless long lasting blush.
Finish with soft highlight that glows not just glitters. Highlight those brow bones. Cheeks and nose bridge get high-lighted. Finish that creamy pout with a bright cupids bow. Face on a high ready to glow.”

OBSESSED! I have previously been a bit nervous about using cream blushes, but the application of this is so controlled and the results are beautiful. Start with a little, and build up from there. It gives such a natural flush to the cheeks and the consistency makes it look SO natural. The highlighting side is more of a natural highligh (compared to blinding highlighters) which for me is perfect. I don’t use the highlighter on a daily basis – not really needed for working with animals – but on a day off wanting to look a bit more glowy this is amazing. Again, love it.

CYO All Set Fixing Powder

RRP £4.00

“Loose powder saves face. Dusts on, fixes look, KO’s shine.

• Sets make-up in place to extend wear
• Reduces the look of pores, fine lines & other skin imperfections
• Feels weightless & Invisible on skin
• Long lasting”

So this is a translucent powder, and I will admit I did panic initially because in the packaging it doesn’t look translucent.. but honestly it is. I dust this under the eyes and t-zone and it holds perfectly. It doesn’t cake, and to be honest other than taking away some shininess it’s not visible. But it is magical! Absolute genius and so affordable.

CYO Set To Last Fixing Spray

RRP £5.00

“fave fixer. For looks that stay put. No smudge. No budge. Fresh-faced, all weathers.

• Ultra-fine, weightless spray
• Keeps make-up looking fresh & flawless
• Keeps that “just applied” look all day
• Moisturising
• Lasts all day”

And to top it all off, this is epic. I always feel strange spraying something wet onto my face after applying makeup (like, won’t it all just run down my face?) but this really does make a difference and no, it doesn’t all run down my face. Definitely ultra fine and weightless, and it’s actually really refreshing in the morning! All weathers is absolutely a claim I can back up, and although I don’t always remember to do this step, it 100% makes all the difference.

Overall, I think it is safe to say I have fallen madly in love with this brand. Not only is it super affordable and there is almost always an offer on at Boots, but the products actually work. I have since tried more of their products (see post here) know I will continue to use these products as staples in my daily routine, and I can’t wait to try more.

Colourpop No Filter Foundation & Concealer Review and Swatches!

OK, so I am WELL aware that I am extremely late to jump on this train, but at least I’m finally on it! After watching multiple makeup tutorials with these products and researching this into great depths, I realised that the only real way I could sleep at night (a little over dramatic) was to jump in head first and just go for it. So! Here we go!

Colourpop No Filter Natural Matte Foundation

RRP $12.00/£18.99

Colourpop No Filter UK

“Our oil-free, buildable full coverage foundation was formulated with soft blurring pigments to give you a natural matte finish. No filter needed.”

Colourpop No Filter UK

So the first thing I noticed about this foundation is the shade range. Not only is this broken down into skin tone, but also undertone – undertone is a big thing for me as I have a light skin tone, but the majority of foundations I have tried are too beige or too pink. I need yellow (Lisa Simpson anyone?). On top of this, there are 42 shades!!!!!!! Thankfully shade ranges have become much more of a necessity with companies lately and if a brand doesn’t have a good range then it is, frankly, highly inappropriate and there is no excuse. If you need help narrowing down your shade, they have a “Find Your Shade” tab which breaks this down further. AND they have a “Match By Brand” option – genius!!!!

Colourpop No Filter UK

So about the actual foundation. Starting with the packaging, I am in love. A lot of the the tutorials I watched pointed out that as the actual container is made of glass it isn’t particularly travel friendly. As I really don’t stray very far from home this is not a problem for me and I think the glass makes it look more expensive and classy. The other down side to the packaging is that it doesn’t come with a lid. The pump does twist to lock, but if you are a regular traveller I can see why this would be unnerving – a bag covered in foundation is never a pleasure. Again as I don’t travel this is not an issue for me and to be honest I would probably end up losing the lid anyway.

Shade wise these are spot on. I went with Light 50 and Light 70 – one for “with fake tan” and one for without. The yellow undertones are perfect and to be real the photos of a swatch don’t really do that justice (I’m just not quite sassy enough yet to put pictures of my face on the internet!) But the undertones and shades are pretty much bang on as described so you can choose a shade online with confidence.

Colourpop No Filter UK

Application – fabulous. I have tried applying with both a beauty sponge and a brush and both work brilliantly and there isn’t really any difference that I can see. The consistency is in the middle for me, not too runny and not too thick. It instantly makes me think I’m not going to be a cake face, but also that it is actually going to do something. The coverage!? Dang! This stuff means business. That being said a sheer layer is perfect for that “no make-up make-up” look, but build this up!? Mate stop! It covers everything.

The other important thing to me is how long a foundation lasts, or at least how it wears. I am happy for a foundation to fade in a natural way, but if it starts going patchy or flakey then it’s a no from me. I work outside so it is a pretty harsh test for any base product to be honest, but this does not dissapoint. It didn’t oil up, it didn’t dry out, there has been the odd “sink” into fine lines e.g. smile lines but this is normal for me and this was only towards the end of the day (approx 9 hours) later – plus a little blot and these dissapeared and I could have easily gone on for the evening. Overall, I may have found my soul mate, and if you travel I personally think just put it in a clear bag if you’re nervous about the packaging – totally worth it.

Colourpop No Filter Matte Concealer

RRP $6.50/£9.90

Colourpop No Filter UK

“Our full coverage concealer was formulated with soft blurring pigments to give you a creaseproof, matte finish. No filter needed.”

Colourpop No Filter UK

As far as the shade range for this concealer goes it pretty much mirrors the foundation selection. There is again the “Find Your Shade” option and there are 30 shades to choose from – all with detailed descriptions on skin tone and undertones.

The packaging is pretty standard for a concealer with a doe foot applicator (lid included this time and actually reminded me of a paddle rather than a doe foot). I chose the shades Fair 08 and Light 10 – again the undertones and shades were exactly what I was expecting and brighten/conceal perfectly pair with the foundation and the swatch pictures still don’t do this justice.

Colourpop No Filter UK

Application wise this honestly goes on like a dream. The consitency is perfectly creamy, again not too thick and no too runny. It covered up just enough to make my skin look “healthy” without looking cakey. Blending this out was ridiculously easy too. I tend to use my fingers, but I did test this with both a sponge and brush for the purpose of this review and had pretty much the same effect. On a side note, these to together and like ying and yang. The blend together beautifully.

Staying power again was pretty impressive. This did settle into lines a little quicker than the foundation, but this was mainly smile lines – what can I say I’m clearly just a smiley person! And as with the foundation with a little blot from my finger and these dissapeared and it continued to look flawless.

This concealer makes me think of a concealer/undereye illuminating love child. It’s not shimmery or anything, but it somehow brightens and makes me look like I’ve had a 3 week holiday and rested the entire time.

Colourpop No Filter UK

So overall!! I feel like I am starting to sound like a broken record, but in my honest opinion I love this collection. I also have the Colourpop No Filter Loose Setting Powder (which is GLORIOUS!) and the Colourpop All Star Prep & Set Duo (review to follow – keep your eyes peeled!) and the whole brand just works together like a dream.

Finally, moving on to the situation of the fact that this is SO easily accessible in America and I am in the UK, fear not!! I take full advantage of any friends or relatives that are holidaying in America (like I said I like my home comforts and don’t particularly travel) but there are now UK options! Colourpop do ship to the UK and they offer free global shipping over $50, but you will have import fees – full details can be found here.

However, there are now easily accessible UK stockists! House Of Beauty and London Loves Beauty are my favourites.

So starting with the shade range, each of these comes in 6 shades. Each. 6 blushes… 6 bronzers.. how many brands have 6 shades of blusher to choose from!? I have the bronzer in “Vitamin C!” and the blush in “Let’s Dance Mango Tango!”Also, some of the shades seem to be almost “crossover” shades like a browny blush and a warm bronze. Genius! In terms of choosing shades, Beauty Bay has done fantastically with their descriptions. Each shade explains its’ undertones and shade, which is SO helpful when buying products online.

The part that surprised me the most, was how well this lasts! Working outside means my “no makeup makeup” doesn’t seem to last throughout the day, and while this does fade slightly by the evening it is 100% still there and looking good. It doesn’t break apart or go patchy, and it looks so natural!

I honestly haven’t got enough good things to say about these products, and they have set a very high standard for the rest of the collection! I can’t wait to try more!

Milani Conceal And Perfect 2 In 1 Foundation And Concealer

Milani Conceal And Perfect 2 In 1 Foundation And Concealer – Review and Swatches!

Milani 2 in 1

First of all I have to say, I have NO idea why it took me so long to try this. The hype around the Milani Conceal and Perfect 2 In 1 has been humongous. I have watched YouTube and googled swatches and for some reason never actually bought it. Until now! As I work outside 99% of the time, I really wanted something that was going to last. There are so many foundations claiming to be “sweatproof”- but lets be honest this is the UK and heatwaves are pretty minimal. Water resistant however, that is what finally got my attention. I get rained on – alot – and having a product that will not just wash off or disappear would be pretty game changing. So! I went for it. Lets have a gander!

Milani 2 in 1Tone wise there are a whopping 29 shades. While a big shade range is awesome, it can also be a little overwhelming when buying online without being able to test them first. That being said, Beauty Bay give epic descriptions of the shades including their undertones, so I was able to narrow it down to Creamy Vanilla 01 and Natural 02. I have to say I am so glad I bought both. Even though these are techincally next to eachother, there is quite a difference in the shade. Natural 02 is perfect for when I have fake tanned, and Creamy Vanilla 01 has the best yellow undertone for when i’m a little “pastey”. Plus, mixing them together in the interim works fine.

Milani 2 in 1
Creamy Vanilla (left) – Natural (right)

“A full coverage concealer and liquid foundation.

Conceal + Perfect 2 In 1 Foundation + Concealer applies seamlessly over the face offering a flawless, matte complexion. Reducing the need for a separate concealer, the richly pigmented formula requires just one layer for a naturally perfected, water resistant veil that covers everything from blemishes and redness, to dark circles and imperfections.”

Milani 2 in 1In all honesty, the claims are bang on. This is definitely full coverage (for me anyway) and initially I missed the slightly lighter concealer under the eye. However, as on a day to day basis I wear more of a “no make-up make-up” look it actually works fantastically. In case the coverage is actually a little too much, I have also tried mixing in an illuminator (No7) or even just a touch of moisturiser and this definitely takes the edge off for a a daily look and blends perfectly. For a flawless look however, honestly this is bang on.

Overall, this stuff is serious. No games are being played here, it is simply epic. It lasts SO well, and while i’ll hold my hands up and admit of not dunked my head in a bucket of water with it on, it has 100% held up in the marvelous British weather. I am hooked!

W7 Photo Shoot Foundation Review and Swatches

W7 Photo Shoot Foundation Review and Swatches

W7 Photo Shoot Foundation Review and Swatches!!

W7 Photo Shoot Foundation

W7 is a brand I came across on YouTube actually (thank you Stephanie Lange!) during my ongoing hunt for affordable Cruelty Free make up brands. I was extremely intrigued by W7, not only is their packaging super duper cute but their products are so affordable! Plus they actually looked pretty decent, so I dived in.

The first product I wanted to try was the W7 Photo Shoot Foundation.

“Photoshoot Foundation is a creamy foundation with a full coverage.

The foundation has the staying power of up to 16 hours and is your go-to “budge-proof” base!”

W7 Photo Shoot Foundation

W7 Photo Shoot Foundation

Sounds dreamy yes? And to be perfectly frank, it is just that. Dreamy. The consistency of this foundation is bang in the middle – not too thick and not too runny. It is super easy to blend and yes – it is pretty full coverage! I tend to steer towards light to medium coverage as I fear the dreaded “cake face” that may accompany a fuller coverage foundation, but this was a pleasant surprise! I wouldn’t say it blanks everything out, but it kind of airbrushes the skin and blurs away imperfections.

The finish I would refer to as a satin-matte. It isn’t dewy, but also not completely flat. It keeps a slight sheen to it that keeps your skin actually looking like skin – just flawless skin! I do finish with a powder around areas that I tend to get a bit oily and they sit absolutely fine on top. And does it last 16 hours? Actually I have no idea, does anyone need makeup to last that long!? But it definitely lasts me a good 8-10 hours which is plenty long enough for me to keep makeup on my face.

W7 Photo Shoot Foundation

It does have a slight scent to it that I can’t quite pin down, but it isn’t strong and I really don’t mind it. The only thing I don’t like about the W7 Photo Shoot Foundation is the packaging. When I say packaging I don’t mean the literal packaging, I actually love the frosted glass with the black (super chic). But, the application method behind this I do find a little tedious. It is just a bottle really, so no doe-foot applicator or even a pump. This can make getting the product out a little long winded, but then it does apply beautifully to the skin. And for the ridiculously affordable price of £6.95 I really am not complaining! A pump or something would be the cherry on top, but even so this is an awesome foundation that has not let me down!

Revolution Conceal and Define Foundation Review

Revolution Conceal and Define Foundation Review

Revolution Conceal and Define Foundation Review

Revolution Conceal and Define

I was beyond ecstatic when I heard there was going to be a foundation in the Revolution Conceal and Define collection. I am lover of Revolution products in general, but their Conceal and Define Concealer is a firm favourite of mine. While I do love their Fast Base Stick Foundation (Full Review & Swatches) I am still figuring out the best way to use it on my skin. But THIS!? I had high expectations for this being the big sister of the matching concealer, so does it live up to them?

“Offering lightweight yet buildable coverage in 24 skin-true shades, this versatile foundation is designed to suit every skin type and tone. With an oil-free yet creamy and comfortable formula that dries down to a long-lasting, demi-matte finish, it won’t settle into fine lines or cling to dry patches. Housed in a luxe glass bottle with a jumbo doe-foot applicator for greater control and less waste, this foundation offers highly pigmented coverage that can be layered or diffused to suit your look. Swipe on and blend out to ramp up the coverage for a ‘real skin’ finish that diffuses blemishes and uneven skin tone. Or let your complexion’s natural character shine through using a small amount with a damp beauty sponge for veil-like coverage.”

So starting with the packaging, it really is almost too much to handle. Literally the grown up version of the concealer, it still has the rose gold details and even a doe-foot applicator! I know some may think using a doe-foot to apply foundation may not be the most sanitary, I personally don’t have an issue with it as concealers are in this format anyway so I don’t really see a difference. It is a fairly decent size (0.8fl oz/23ml) and at £9.00 is super affordable.

On to the shades. There are 24 – yes,24 – shades to choose from. This part was pretty easy for me as I already have the Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer (Full Review & Swatches) so was able to match to that. But if this is new to you, they have detailed shade descriptions to help. I was intrigued to see whether the shades are identical to the concealers, which they pretty much are. This matches me perfectly – although when I have a tan (fake, obvs) it will probably be slightly too pale – something I didn’t think about when matching to my usual concealer.

Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation Swatches

The application is great, as you would expect from a liquid foundation really and the doe-foot doesn’t really alter anything – although it does actually help avoid mess! Blending wise this was SO easy. It just melts onto the skin and blends out beautifully but still keeps the coverage (I prefer the finish using a beauty blender). I wouldn’t say it is completely full coverage, but still full enough that I probably wouldn’t wear it every day and more for occasions or when I want flawless looking skin (it has a gorgeous satin/matte finish). I would say a medium to full coverage, but it is buildable so if you want to cover everything you can.

Revolution Conceal and Define Foundation

Overall, I geniunely love this foundation. Everything about it is exactly what I hoped for. The coverage, the finish, even the packaging. This has got to be my favourite collection from Revolution – just a powder to finish it off now please!?

LUSH Slap Stick Foundation Review & Swatches

LUSH Slap Stick Foundation Review & Swatches

LUSH Slap Stick Solid Foundation Review

Lush Foundation

As a hardcore fan of anything from Lush Cosmetics, it is safe to say I was a little over excited when I heard they were releasing a foundation. As always with Lush, the format of this foundation was never going to be stereotypical – it is literally an egg. Strange, but totally justified. As there is no packaging to this foundation (other than the cardboard recyclable box) there is no wastage or plastic involved. That being said it is still super easy to use as it has a peel-able wax holder.

Lush Foundation

“Each solid Slap Stick formula is partially dipped in peelable wax for your convenience, and will arrive in a handy recycled and recyclable cardboard box to ensure it’s in tip-top condition. By popping your foundation in a reusable container you’ll keep your product fresh – and do your bit for the planet too.

Plus, you can rest assured that your new foundation is 100% vegan and none of the beautiful ingredients inside have been tested on animals – just a squad of dedicated makeup lovers, passionate about skincare.”

Lush Foundation

So! On to the fun part! There are 40 shades available – yes 40 – and all are further categorised into undertones. This is genius! While 40 shades may seem a little overwhelming, Lush have made it super simple to match yourself. They have a “No Hassle Guide” to help break it all down, and if you are an Instagram user then you can literally hold your phone up to your face and match yourself. Amazing right!? Just open the Undertone story and get cracking!

“So you want a breathable foundation with buildable coverage and a natural neutral undertone – a foundation that looks incredible, feels invisible and does amazing things for your skin. But what you normally get is heavy foundation that clogs, cakes or doesn’t quite give you the coverage you want or the ingredients your skin would really appreciate. Until now.”

“Say hello to post-facial radiance – skin so dewy you could have just hit the spa and ingredients so luxurious they hydrate, soften and rejuvenate with every application. With 40 shades available (also with warm and cool undertones) to cater for every complexion, your skin’s never had it this good before.

Each Lush Slap Stick is an enriching, highly buildable blend of coveted artisan ingredients and pigment, packed with softening nut oils to make your complexion glow. This medium-coverage foundation, composed of 14% pigment and 45% Indonesian coconut oil, makes mask-like foundations a thing of the past, keeping your complexion looking fresh all day long at no compromise to your preferred level of coverage.”

And is it as incredible as it seems to be?

Lush FoundationIn my opinion, yes. It is definitely not a typical foundation in any shape or form. It definitely has a waxy texture to it that is not really comparable to typical liquid or cream foundations. However, it… is…. beautiful. It took me a while to figure out the best way to apply and blend this, but applying directly onto the skin and then blending with a damp beauty blender gave the most glorious finish. The result is so natural looking, but is pretty buildable if you are into a more fuller coverage. It warms onto the skin and blends beautifully. It definitely gives a radiant dewy finish, but is not greasy (which surprised me as looking at the ingredients it contains a lot of oils!). It lasts well and when it does start to wear down it fades and stays blended rather than breaking up or going patchy. Would I wear this for an evening event or night out? Probably not – for those I do prefer a more flawless and matte finish. But, for daily use, day time events (it screams festivals!) or any less intense looks this is so perfect.

Lush Foundation

At £16.95 it isn’t the cheapest foundation going, but I do think because of its format this will last for such a long time. I love the idea behind the packaging (or lack of), and when it comes down to the actual product – although applying it can feel very odd to start with – it blends beautifully, gives a stunning finish, works fabulously with other makeup products on top and has pretty good staying power. Another Lush Cosmetics win!!!

Obsession Makeup Customise Review

Obsession Makeup Customise Review

Obsession Makeup “Customise” Review

Obsession Swatches

So I actually need a cup of tea to write this one. The Obsession Palettes and Refills seemed a convenient and cheap way to get some potential daily products, but they are SO much more than that! I mean yes they are ridiculously affordable (£1-£2 each – and even cheaper in sales) but they are definitely not just cheap back ups. To be honest I don’t really know where to start – but let’s give it a go!

Obsession

“Shades that fit. Looks that stand out.”

Obsession Swatches

Eyeshadows

Obsession Swatches

It really is quite difficult not to get over excited when looking at the range of shades! The pigmentation is bang on and they blend like an absolute dream. These make it super easy to create every day natual looks but the brighter options look so stunning for a more “full on” look. I can’t quite put into words how in love with these I am!

Face

Obsession Swatches

So these were the last additions to my rapidly growing collection, and they are just as awesome as the rest. Not as much of a range as with the eyeshadows which would be expected but the pigmentation and blendability (not sure that’s a word) are just stunning. They have such a natural finish but are so buildable and just look fabulous.

Obsession Swatches

Palettes

Obsession Swatches

The palettes are almost as exciting as the shades themselves! There are quite a few colour options to choose from and various sizes. Again super affordable (£2-£8) and actually look rather chic! The shadows (bought as singles) “pop out” of their original packaging and easily “pop in” to the palette. A really handy feature is that the backs of the palettes are open, so you can still read the colour names.

So overall there really aren’t enough good things I can say about this whole collection! Such beautiful quality for such an affordable price! Just a word of warning – these are addictive!

Natural Collection Review

Natural Collection Review

Natural Collection

So first off I’ll be frank, I bought these products just to build up my collection as they are SO cheap (everything is under £3). I wasn’t expecting much from them and just thought they would be handy to have around. BUT!!!! I am literally obsessed. I don’t know how they’ve done it, but they have. These have very quickly become products that I now use every day. How!?!?

“Natural Collection has curated a selection of cosmetics to work with your natural beauty rather than covering it up. From soft and timeless hues to a touch of colour, this is our ‘show you’ range (not ‘make up’), created to show off the best of you.
Our beauty experts have developed a simple range of lightweight, simple to use, wearable and easy to understand products that fit into your life, not take it over! Beauty isn’t about looking perfect, it’s about finding what works for you and celebrating what makes you individual. Freckles, scars, stretch marks and they are your stories, your beauty.
Embrace your natural beauty, don’t cover up, just shine!
No nonsense make up. Beauty made simple.”

Natural Collection Hydrating and Radiance Foundation

Natural Collection

“Our Hydrating and Radiance Foundation has been created with a lightweight formula that glides onto skin, giving you light coverage.
Containing moisturising and luminescent properties that will help leave skin radiant, whilst feeling beautifully hydrated. An instant boost for tired or dull looking skin.
Kind to skin. With camomile to help soothe and protect.” – £2.99

Natural Collection

So this is the product that shocked me the most. For £2.99 I was kind of expecting a cakey foundation that didn’t really cover anything or last more than 5 minutes. This miracle has become my every day base product. The finish is absolutely stunning and it somehow does last really well! It does “fade” towards the end of the day but baring in mind I work outside the fact that it lasts past lunch time at this price is impressive! Plus it fades rather than going patchy so it still looks good at the end of the day. The coverage is more on the natural side, but I absolutely love it. I am usually a BB Cream girl but this is definitely more coverage than a standard BB Cream. I have the shade “Cameo” which matches my current skin tone (a little tanned) bang on, and I will definitely be picking up a lighter shade for when this sunshine disappears. I just love it.

Natural Collection Powder Blusher & Bronzing Powder

Natural Collection

“Our Blushers have been created to give a hint of natural colour, adding a delicate glow to your complexion. It’s easy to blend and build, to help you create your perfect everyday look.
Enriched with Camomile to help soothe and protect.” – £1.99

Natural Collection

“Our Bronzing Powder is lightly tinted to add a natural, healthy glow to your complexion. Infused with golden pearl, this subtly frosted Bronzing Powder enhances the warmth of your skin and is blendable and buildable, for a natural sunkissed look. This powder is great for use on its own for a more natural finish or over your base for a more intense glow.
Enriched with Camomile to help soothe and protect.” – £1.99

Again these two products are just life. They have such a stunning finish to them and look so natural. I have the shades “Peach Melba (Blush)” and “Golden Glow (Bronzer)”. If you’re after a strong sharp contour and a bright blush then these probably aren’t what you’re looking for, but to warm up the skin and add some subtle colour to the cheeks these are fabulous.

Natural Collection Mono Eyeshadow

Natural Collection

“Our Mono Eyeshadows have been created to give beautifully pigmented colour.
Our soft and creamy formula provides an easy and smooth application, which is both blendable and buildable.  Available in a variety of colours to suit all looks.
Enriched with Camomile to help soothe and protect.” – £1.99

Another diamond, the shade range on these eyeshadows are pretty impressive and they are suprisingly pigmented. That being said they again have such a lovely finish are super easy to blend. I have the “Milk Chocolate” shade and it is beyond perfect for everyday.

Natural Collection Definition Mascara

Natural Collection“Our Definition Mascara has been created to define and separate lashes from corner to corner for a fanned out, clump free and wide-eyed effect.
Enriched with Camomile to help soothe and protect” – £2.49

Last but not least, this mascara is a game changer for me. I don’t tend to wear mascara on a daily basis (I have fairly sensitive eyes and tend to use mascara for occasions rather than every day). But, this gentle mascara has not irritated my eyes in the slightest. This doesn’t make your lashes look like falseys so if you’re more into full on drama or clumpy mascaras then this isn’t going to fit the brief. It looks so natural and just defines the eyes without it being obvious that it’s even there – which for me is perfect. Obviously I do like to go all out when it comes to special occasions, but for an every day makeup I am obsessed.

Natural Collection
(Left:Bronzer, Middle:Blush, Right:Eyeshadow)

Overall it is safe to say that I am beyond impressed with this whole collection. Had I known it was going to be quite this epic I would have picked up a lot more products when I was there! But I can now crack on and trust that the standard of these ridiculously cheap products is beautiful. I don’t know how they’ve done, and I don’t need to – I’m just glad they did!!

The Cruelty Free Beauty Box Review

The Cruelty Free Beauty Box Review

The Cruelty Free Beauty Box Review – June 2018

Cruelty Free Beauty Box

This is the first subscription box I have tried from The Cruelty Free Beauty Box and honestly it was beautiful before I’d even opened the box! Straight away the rose gold logo had me hooked! (Shallow, but true!) The Cruelty Free Beauty Box is primarily a Subscription service for Cruelty Free makeup, beauty and hair products – but they also offer One Off Boxes, Build Your Own Boxes AND they have a general Beauty Shop, AND a Reward Scheme! So pretty much all bases covered there!

Cruelty Free Beauty BoxThe Subscription Box is the perfect way to try out different brands and products that you may not normally come across – plus the amazing thing is if you fall in love with something you can continue to buy this from their Beauty Shop! The Month to Month Subscription costs £14.95 (this can be cancelled at any time) and the 3 Month Prepay costs £43.50 (£14.50 per month). They also have a 6 Month Prepay for £84.00 which reduces this down to £14.00 per month. This all being said, the value I received was way more than £14.95 (my math makes it over £30) so this really is super affordable – plus they even give discount on first orders!! That was too many numbers!! So let’s get going!

Pure Purpose – Natural Deodorant Cream – Lemon Breeze

RRP £9.50

Pure Purpose

Finding Cruelty Free Deodorant can be a bit of a challenge, so this was a lovely product to include – not the most glamorous but definitely appreciated!! The fact that this deodorant comes in cream form, in a jar, could be a little unnerving. But! This genuinely works! It also leave underarms feeling super soft and moisturised which is a huge bonus. And the scent……. Oh the scent. This Lemon Breeze fragrance is so subtle but so refreshing and actually quite addictive! They also have a Lavender Fresh scent too which I would imagine smells just as beautiful. This deodorant is 100% natural, vegan and cruelty-free.

Pure Purpose

Friendly Soap Shea Butter Facial Cleansing Bar

RRP £2.62

Friendly Soap

So this gorgeous little beauty bomb is a nourishing face cleanser in the form of a bar of soap – and it literally is beautiful. Lathered up with a little water it creates and creamy foamy cleanser that is just a dream. It smells incredible and is prefect for sensitive skin. It is super calming and leaves skin feeling as though it has already been moisturised! As well as being cruelty free, the ingredients are all so natural and the box is even made from plastic free recycled (and recyclable) packaging. Again this also has an alternative option of Cocoa Butter which is described as being good for dry skin and even eczema! At such an affordable price on its’ own I am positive I will be loading up!

Friendly Soap

Evolve Hyaluronic Eye Complex

RRP 5ml £8.00 / 10ml £16.00

Evolve Organic Beauty

So, a funny story! A little advice with this one – read the note inside the box.

In my excited state I of course had to jump straight in and ended up losing almost half of this product. It quite clearly states inside the box to be careful when opening this product due to its watery consistency – of course I didn’t see this until afterwards. Completely my fault – so please learn from my mistake! Anyway! This product is more of an eye treatment to me than an eye cream as such, and it is SO luscious. It instantly feels refreshing under the eyes and feels so soothing! This is genuinely amazing on tired eyes (which I seem to have a lot…) and it reduces puffiness like magic. The full size comes with a roller ball applicator and given how refreshing it is just using finger tips my brain can’t quite comprehend how amazing it would be with a roller ball! Definitely a favourite!

Evolve Organic Beauty

Johnny Concert Amplified Eyeshadow – Desert Trap

RRP £12.00

Johnny Concert

This was a nice surprise to find as Johnny Concert is a brand I strangely haven’t come across before. (I have since been nosing through their website!). The shade Desert Trap is a stunning Khaki shimmer shade that is absolutely bang on for me! The undertones are neutral so this would literally suit anyone, and the golden reflects give it that extra glow. A simply beautiful shade. Again this products’ ingredients are just brilliant, and as beautiful as this shade is there are SO many shades to choose from (29 if I counted correctly). Click here to view all the shades!

Delune Mandarin Dry Body Oil Mist

RRP £16.00

Delune

Now this product – a dry body oil mist – I wasn’t quite sure how to go about using. So (for once) I just followed the instructions and BAM! This is beyond awesome! It is a light weight but intensely moisturing spray body mist that is so ridiculously easy to use! A light spritz transforms the skin making it silky soft, and it smells amazing!!!! Because it is such a light mist it doesn’t even need to dry! This really is epic, and if I was forced to choose a favourite product from this box I think this has to be it!

The Cruelty Free Beauty Box – How It All Started!

“Our Founder, Chloe has always been on a mission to make a difference. However, signing petitions, speaking out and avoiding Companies just wasn’t good enough-Yes, it kept her awake at night! She wanted something much bigger than that and to help people see what was happening in the world of Animal Testing and to help them make the change to Cruelty Free – Many people say you can’t change the world, if we all though like that what would get done’?
We have all always been aware of animal testing and boycotted the Companies who allow this, but then as time went on we realised we hadn’t been avoiding them at all. We realised just how sneaky Companies could be – Logo’s were fake, Companies sold in China, they didn’t test but 3rd parties did…. And so it unraveled! That’s when the light bulb went off – We needed something that made it simple for us to enjoy a Beauty Box but one we could trust & enjoy without any guilt whatsoever! Oh & to show these “ugly” companies that it’s beyond acceptable… and so the journey of The Cruelty Free Beauty Box began!”

So there it is!! Whether you want to surprise yourself with unknown new products every month, create your own box or just shop in a place that you can trust, The Cruelty Free Beauty Box has cracked it!!
