ZAO Silk Foundation Review and Swatches
OK, so while the packaging of a foundation shouldn’t really be important, the ZAO Silk Foundation just looks incredible! However, packagine does not reflect the quality of a product – so let’s jump in and see if this really is as good as it looks! ZAO products are free from Parabens and Toxic Preservatives, and – obviously – Cruelty Free!
ZAO Claims:
The light texture of ZAO Silk Foundation applies easily and meets the needs of those who like a luminous complexion with full coverage and a natural finish. Besides organic silica contained in bamboo hydrosol, organic sweet almond oil, jojoba and shea butter give this foundation a nourishing effect. It has a mattifying finish and uniform coverage for a long lasting coverage throughout the day.
The first thing that strikes me with this foundation (other than the gorgeous packaging of course!) is the beautiful texture that I can only describe as “silky”. It almost feels like a moisturiser, it is SO light and creamy. I find applying this with a damp sponge gives the most flawless finish, although it does blend beautifully with a brush too. This foundation is described as “strong coverage”, and it really is incredible how something so light can do so much! Definitely a full coverage foundation, but it doesn’t look cakey!
I would say there is a demi-matte finish to this foundation that keeps it looking completely natural. The shade range is fairly decent with 9 shades – I have the shade “Light Sand” which is absolutely perfect for my yellow-toned pale skin. I must say though, even if you aren’t sure on your exact shade match this product is so blendable that it would be so easy to make it work regardless!
In regards to the packaging I have probably said enough, but just in case…. This is frosted glass with a pump applicator – and the bamboo lid!? Just amazing. While the glass is probably not the most travel friendly, it feels and looks absolutely stunning on display and really doesn’t seem that heavy! Mine also came in a cute little case too!
Price wise the ZAO Silk Foundation is at the higher end of what I would normally be willing to spend on a foundation – £34.95. While I wouldn’t usually use a more expensive foundation on an every day basis and would probably save it for special occasions, a little goes a very long way with this – one pump is enough to cover my entire face – so this will last for SUCH a long time even using every day! (Plus I do have a discount code below!)
With such an incredible finish and with so little product needed, the ZAO Silk Foundation really is an absolute joy! In my opinion this is definitely worth spending some extra pennies on, I see it as more of an investment! Beautiful packaging for a beautiful product!
